book article review
Last night the Lapag bros welcomed new member JC coming from Lingkod Greenhills. The activity last night was book/article/story review. 
Erik shared some highlights from the book "Leadership Secrets of Saint Paul" by Jeff Caliguire. From this book, St. Paul's qualities was clearly shown on the stories of his mission in bringing many people to christianity. He was a very good example of a faithful and radical follower of Christ.
Erik shared some highlights from the book "Leadership Secrets of Saint Paul" by Jeff Caliguire. From this book, St. Paul's qualities was clearly shown on the stories of his mission in bringing many people to christianity. He was a very good example of a faithful and radical follower of Christ. JC shared the story entitled "The Gift", it talks about the story of the father giving his son a Bible instead of a car that his son was asking from him. The son became disappointed and so he left his father. Later in the story the father died and the son checked the Bible that his father gave and noticed that there was a key inside his Bible and knew that it was there since the time his father gave it to him on his graduation day. The story shows the value of God's desire to bless in small and big things. JC also shared his reflections on the book of Philippians in the Bible which also featured St. Paul's virtues.
Dom shared the book "Jesus Freaks" by the DC Talk an alternative band who radically expressed their call to remind us the works of Christ in the life of the martyrs. The book featured a lot about St. Paul who ultimately gave his life for Christ. 
Kicks through text shared the book "The Pilgrimage" by the famous author Paulo Coehlo. He personally like the author because of his vivid imagination which makes it surreal and out of this world yet, never far-fetched. One more thing is, the author also shows depth in the religious side - he is Brazilian and also a Catholic. It is a worthwhile and also an inspiring read with a bit of suspense, drama and trivial facts.

Trusting Jesus
Today's meditation from Word Among Us devotional shows how much Jesus is willing to reach us in our most challenging times. Here's the meditation.

How compassionate Jesus is! When Jairus told him about his little daughter and asked him to come and lay hands on her to heal her, he responded immediately. He interrupted all that he was doing to respond to one man’s plea for his little girl. Jesus’ response is all the more dramatic when you consider the turbulent relationship Jesus had with some of the religious leaders of the day.
Nothing could deter Jesus from his mission to heal the little girl. No discouraging report or mockery kept him from healing her. The only thing that delayed him was the faith of another woman. Jesus was so full of God’s mercy that he inadvertently healed one person while on his way to heal another! Can you see the kindness of Jesus? He wants us to know beyond any doubt today that he has come for us with mercy.
Sometimes we have trouble believing that Jesus is so good and compassionate toward us. Yet it is the lowly, hurting, and afflicted person, who may feel least worthy of Jesus’ love, whom he most desires to touch. Jesus never wants us to be afraid of coming to him, no matter what our needs.
In the face of our doubts about his love and our feelings of unworthiness, he speaks to us the same words he said to Jairus: “Do not be afraid; just have faith” (Mark 5:36). This need for us to trust in him was part of Jesus’ message to St. Faustina Kowalska, the Polish nun canonized by Pope John Paul II in the year 2000. Jesus wants to have mercy and compassion on all. He wants us all to say with confidence, “Jesus, I trust in you.”
What is your greatest need today? Are you hesitant to bring it to Jesus? Trust him. He is good and compassionate. He loves you much more that you can understand. Encourage your loved ones to come to him also. As you come to know Jesus, you will see and understand that he was sent by the Father on a great mission of mercy. He is God’s mercy and compassion among us.
“Jesus, I praise you for your infinite mercy and love. I do put my trust in you. You are the good shepherd. Come and heal me of my deepest wound today.”
